Drive the engineering and realization of high‑voltage substations as a Secondary Electrical Engineer/Protection & Control Engineer in Rotterdam. You work on 1–2 year projects for grid operators (e.g., TSO/DNO such as TenneT), from design to site commissioning. Core challenge: translate protection and control philosophy into accurate cable routing, connection points, and compliant schematics for reliable grid integration and automation. Scope spans industry, infrastructure, transport, hydrogen, and e‑mobility—impacting the energy transition with safer, smarter substations.

You join a high‑voltage engineering and projects organization active in grid automation, transformer/substation builds, and grid integration across the Netherlands. Typical projects (1–2 years) are executed with HV subcontractors while project control stays in‑house. The work portfolio supports the energy transition through grid upgrades, substation expansions, and renewable integration for national grid operators and industrial clients. Multidisciplinary teams cover design, procurement, installation support, testing, and handover, focusing on safety, quality, and compliance.

Wat ga je doen als Secondary Electrical Engineer - Substation design in Rotterdam?
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams on non‑standard HV projects, driving continuous improvement in deliverables
  • Ensure compliant cable routing, correct terminal assignments, and aligned protection & control diagrams per applicable laws and standards
  • Select appropriate secondary equipment to realize a robust, future‑proof electrical infrastructure
  • Support the construction phase on site
  • supervise installation of switchgear, control panels, and related components
  • Perform thorough functional testing with test teams to verify safe, seamless system operation
  • Document designs in precise drawings and ensure a smooth technical handover to the grid operator.

Over jou

Wat neem je mee?
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with the ability to translate theory into practical solutions
  • 4+ years of experience in the electrical domain, comfortable tackling complex challenges independently and in collaboration
  • Ability to switch between analysis and execution
  • deliver accurate results with attention to safety and quality
  • Strong communication: share knowledge, persuade with facts, set a positive example
  • Fluent in English
  • Dutch proficiency is a plus.
